The Story:
LSSA was founded in 2013, after the Laneys had a few friends over to their backyard pool and a water emergency occurred while the parents played with the children in the pool. Their friend’s young son Carter took his floats off and jumped back into the pool while his dad was turned the other way playing with his other child. Fortunately, Carter is alive and thriving, but he was an epiphany that me us recognize that arm floats have the potential to harm our children and that traditional swim lessons aren’t enough.
Allison began searching for survival swimming lessons for their first son. They quickly learned that the nearest option was in Mobile, AL. Committed to the challenging drive 1.5 hours each way, Allison’s now friend & mentor in Mobile encouraged her to bring this specialized swimming to the MS Gulf Coast. Allison enrolled in survival swim instructor training and spent over 150 hours in the water training, with 100 hours of classroom study during 5 weeks in Atlanta, GA with a master instructor formerly known as Infant Aquatics.
In July 2013, LSSA opened the pool as the first and only survival swim school on the MS Gulf Coast and trained its first 25 students. Today, with four instructors across the coast, LSSA will continue to be the premier survival swim school and is on track to train over 300 students this year.
The commitment that you make to assure your children are prepared in the event of a water emergency is the same commitment that Allison, Shelbie, Mallory, and Sunny have made for their children. Lessons are not easy, however they are always productive. Rest assured that you are embarking upon the most successful swimming lessons on the Gulf Coast and the safety of your children is considered above all else.
